What is the “Third Mission” of Universities?

According to the study titled “The Third Mission of the University: A Systematic Review of the Literature on Potentials and Constraints” by authors Lorenzo Compagnucci and Francesca Spigarelli, December 2020, with 134 references to studies covering the period 2004-2019:

The Third Mission represents the economic and social mission of the university and its contribution to communities and territories.

Additionally, the promotion of the book titled “Complex Dynamics of Spaces of Freedom” took place, which was the focus of the meeting with the students and academic staff of UCB.
