As part of International Data Protection Day, the University College of Business, in collaboration with the Office of the Commissioner for the Right to Information and Personal Data Protection, organized an open and educational awareness lecture, attended by students and academic staff, held at Kinema Maks Velo.

The Rector of the University College of Business, Prof. Dr. Ylber Bezo, emphasized the importance of ongoing cooperation with the Commissioner’s Office, highlighting that personal data protection is an essential component of students’ professional and civic education, not only in the digital era.

During the lecture, Commissioner Mr. Besnik Dervishi stressed that “personal data is our identity” and that its processing must be conducted with care, responsibility, and in full compliance with the law on personal data protection, highlighting the Commissioner’s Office’s role as a supervisory authority in sensitive areas.

The Head of the Cabinet, Ms. Besa Velaj, and the Secretary General, Ms. Blerta Nerguti, presented the journey of approving Law No. 124/2024, its alignment with European Union standards and GDPR, and the importance of this law in the European integration process and strengthening the rule of law.

In this context, the collaboration agreement between the University College of Business and the Commissioner’s Office was also highlighted, focusing on professional training for the Personal Data Protection Officer (DPO). This cooperation has so far resulted in high interest and engagement, as well as consistent quality in the training programs, of which UCB takes pride.

This activity contributed to raising awareness, strengthening the culture of personal data protection, and deepening institutional cooperation in support of a more informed and responsible society.
