As part of the planned activities of the project, the first workshop was held at the Municipality of Berat on the topic: “Understanding Indicators: From Data Selection to Integration into the Database – Theory, Practice, and PostgreSQL/PostGIS Backend,” within the project “Digital Innovation for the Valorization of the Local Environment and Cultural Heritage – IDVA.”
Data-driven tourism, transparent culture; a new approach to promoting Berat.
In an era where information is a source of development, the Municipality of Berat, in collaboration with the University College of Business, is building a “new model” for how the city’s values are managed and promoted.
The IDVA project brings together technology, heritage, and institutional collaboration to create a new data infrastructure – a common language between administration, researchers, and the community.
This workshop represents a concrete step toward the digitalization of tourist attractions, cultural assets, and territorial data, integrating them into the PostgreSQL/PostGIS system for smarter management and greater transparency.
In this way, tourism becomes data-driven, culture more accessible, and the city more open to innovation.
