The Role of Social and Economic Factors in Shaping OrganizationalCulture in Latvia in the Context of Ethnic Diversity

Abstract

The authors of the article emphasize the importance of studying organizational culture in Latvia,
considering the impact of socioeconomic factors and ethnic diversity. Latvia is home to two main
ethnocultural groups: ethnic Latvians and Russians. The article examines ethnic differences within
Latvian organizational culture to assess the cohesion of this multi-ethnic environment. The study
reveals that respondents place significant value on fairness, particularly in economic behavior,
business communication, and adherence to corporate ethics, respect for organizational
hierarchies, and the perception of professional, moral, and psychological qualities among
employees from different ethnic backgrounds. However, the findings also highlight notable
differences, indicate the existence the existence of distinct ethnic subcultures within Latvia’s
business and organizational settings.
